Brandy Library is the perfect spot to unwind after work,
whet your appetite before dinner, spend an evening wining
and dining, have dessert and a cognac, or have the time of
your life after everyone else has gone to bed. You'll find
us well-stocked and willing, 7 days, 4 p.m. to 4 a.m. Thursday through
Saturday, 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday. |

If
you can find it nowhere else, you'll find that rare spirit,
say, a 1945 Darroze armagnac, Pierre Ferrand cognac 1914, or
a Springbank 1969 single malt at the Library, as our
collection amasses more than 900 bottles. Oh, and a menu of
100 signature and classic cocktails, carefully chosen wines
(still and sparkling) and beers, and a decadent selection of hors d'oeuvres. Who
says you can't please everyone? |
|
|
|
 |
Our cuisine is decadent indeed, hot, cold, sweet, savory,
and all-encompassing. Where else can you get Malai Tikka,
house Cognac-cured foie gras, creme brulee, fresh eclairs,
or warm chocolate cake with a molten center, and more, at 4
in the morning? |

Doctors say that feeling "choiceful" is the key to good
mental health, but if having too many options makes you
anxious, fear not! With our Spirit School you'll become an
expert in no time. Like many industry professionals before
you, you'll taste some of the finest elixirs on the planet,
and learn all about the who, what, when, where, why and how.
Pretty soon, you'll be the one choosing for your friends. |

Brandy Library also boasts its own Spirit Sommelier, who not
only can help you select an exquisite libation worthy of
your hard-earned money, but can also tell you about the
colorful history and the painstaking craftsmanship you're
sipping. |

We've been hosting lots of parties during the last 4
years of
business, and we're looking forward to hosting many more!
Corporate parties, presentations, personal celebrations,
customized group tastings with friends or clients, and
alumni mixers - all have found a conducive and convivial
home here. We'll even do your R.S.V.P.'s |

You'll be able to have conversation like grown-ups and
escape the ubiquitous drone of ambient music, as we like to
play jazz on our ipod, and no, we don't mean Kenny G. If you
like it live, join us on Monday nights when we feature Joel
Forrester on piano, 8-midnight, or on Sundays, come and
listen to Daniel Rouleau's guitar and Saxophone duo,
8-11 p.m. |

Get more than you paid for at the Library! Meet distillers
and taste their wares on Tasting Fridays, and sample our

Some patrons are so dedicated to the pursuit of happiness
that they have joined us as members. For an annual fee,
members enjoy 10% off of all purchases, freedom to indulge
in their own bottle of choice (with the purchase of food),
private events and socials, advance notice and invitation to
special events, discounts on Spirit School, personalized
glassware, and cigar storage in our humidors (space
permitting.) Though slots are limited, we are currently
accepting applications for 2009. |

As
if food, drink, and conversation weren't interesting enough,
we also have an extensive library of books on hand should
you want to study further on the subject of spirits. Help
yourself to one while you indulge in one of our tasting
flights, say the Singles of Speyside or The Goodies of
Gascony, to
enhance your experience and become a real know-it-all. |

Our house policies |
|
|
For those
of you who are regulars and know how proud we are to be
different, skip this paragraph.
But if
you happen to check this website out as you are about to
offer patronage, please read the following statements, as it
might help you understand who we are. Here are a few hints
to make your visit an even more pleasant one, plus a few
rules from your diligent Librarians.
From
Tuesday through Saturday, we strongly suggest
reservations. We do not wish to overcrowd the place and
like to keep our guests seated, including at the bar.
Moreover, our certificate of occupancy sets the limits that
we must absolutely respect. Due to the limited seating
capacity, we will guarantee you a table if you call ahead.
Make sure to provide us with a cell phone number and to give
us a ring in case you are running late. Brandy Library does
not aim at being a hot spot or a passing trend, so do not
take this reservation policy as a sign of attitude; we just
like to give the drinks the chance to be fully appreciated.
There is no reason why sipping a fine bourbon should be any
different from having a great meal in an upscale restaurant.
Our host
will do our best to accommodate your party as you walk in,
will ask you if you have a reservation or not, and whether
you'd rather seat at a table or imbibe at the bar if you do
not have one. And if we happen to turn you away, it is
certainly not because we do not want the business, but
precisely because we want to stay in business and keep
offering the right ambiance and the ideal atmosphere to
whoever is in. Do not get mad either if you are denied
seats: we make sure to reserve tables for the patrons who
called ahead and no, it is not OK to seat there "until they
come".
We can
only accommodate groups no larger than 6 guests on
Fridays and Saturdays, and will not let 2 two different
reservations gather and the total guest count get over six.
Obviously, we are looking for the comfort of all other
guests and large groups tend to get loud. However, we will
not charge you an arm and a leg if you want to throw a party
here: the lower level is ideal for small gatherings up to 40
guests. We won't ask for a room rental, but work on a
minimum purchase guaranteed or a standard party rate, on a
"per person and per hour" basis.
Brandy
Library offers a relaxed atmosphere, but we appreciate when
our guests respect the beauty and the elegance of the
surroundings by refraining from removing your shoes, putting
your feet on the furniture (including what you are sitting
on) or mistreating our property in any way.
As in any
library, please avoid using loud and/or vulgar language
and, though it does prove a challenge in our romantic
setting, keep public displays of affection within the bounds
of good taste. And in order to avoid any confusion, we like
to forbid more than one person to enter the restrooms at a
time.
We aim at
providing our guests with the most pleasurable
time...possible, within reason and legal regulations:
we will not serve a person who walks in inebriated to the
point of losing ability to think and act straight. And
knowing that alcohol has devastating effects on the youth,
we set the minimum drinking age at 25 years old. Brandy
Library is a mature place for mature people, with a strong
grasp on is civilized entertainment. And we try to
carry this image outside to the porch where a few seats
allow you to indulge in your smoking pleasures...in the
quietest way in respect to our neighbors. Outdoor seating is
over at Midnight, everyday.
Brandy
Library has no "dress code": one does not need to
wear a Tuxedo or even a suit and tie to patronize, but this
is not carte blanche to any sort of attire: we will turn
away anyone whose outfit is disrespectful or insulting in
any way. We keep a coat check facility to help you unwind at
your ease and sit comfortably without having to worry about
a wrinkled trench coat or a damaged briefcase. As a matter
of fact, we will insist on checking your coat and bags,
although you won't have to if you don't like to. But
remember that drinks get spilled sometimes.
Tribeca
is a family-friendly neighborhood and many restaurants and
even bars cater to babies-and-strollers with parents. But
Brandy Library is a bar where mostly hard liquor is served
and the lights are low...and it is just not a place for
babies!
Last but
not least, you will notice our piano located between the bar
and the fireplace: it is for the single use of Joel
Forrester, whose melodies can be enjoyed most Monday nights.
It might represent a temptation to your fingers, but we'll
be grateful if you can resist...On that musical note, let us
add that we are proud to play background standard jazz the
rest of the week and we hope you enjoy it. If the tunes are
not to your liking, feel free to make a statement of it to
our management and we'll try to add your suggestions into
our play lists.
Generally
speaking, all comments are truly welcome; you can even do so
anonymously from this website.
Sincerely
at your service!
